Met de komst van o.a. de Iphone is het mobiel gebruik van internet sterk toegenomen. De meeste websites zijn mobiel niet ‘user friendly’ of worden niet goed weergegeven. Daarom wordt het steeds belangrijker om naast de reguliere website ook een goed functionerende mobile website te ontwikkelen. Een mobile website wordt vanuit een ander oogpunt ontworpen dan een gewone site. Usability is hier erg belangrijk, er geldt: less is more. Verder is accessibility een belangrijk aspect. meer >>

Website voor BunkerQ, een bureau voor erfgoedontwikkeling, restauratie en architectuur. Door een slimme database surf je door de portfolio in een ‘breathing interface’. Hierdoor heeft de website een onverwachts verrassende maar toch logische navigatie.

Inspired by the video game Super Mario, Super Santa is designed in 3D and printed out with a ZPrint 450 3D printer. Super Santa consists of 513 voxels (3D pixels) of 2×2x2 cm and 35 light bulbs and is our new art work in the Archiware Studio display window.

Website van de Mouila University in Gabon. In opdracht van Blok Kats van Veen architecten en Maissa Architectures. Deze full Flash website gaat over het ontwerp van dit campus. Iedere pagina hierin krijgt een eigen gezicht doordat foto’s in een speciaal gescript venster worden geplaatst.

The Groninger Museum will present new work by the artist Danielle Kwaaitaal (Bussum, 1964) in the ‘Green Room’  from March 14 to May 31 2009. Whispering Waters (2009) consists of a series of underwater photographs made by Kwaaitaal in conjunction with fashion designer Mada van Gaans.

In 2003, OMA/Rem Koolhaas build the McCormick Tribune Campus Center at the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) in Chicago. 2×4’s contribution to the building was an ambitious environmental graphics program –including murals, wallpaper, clocks, lighting, textiles, and signage- that expressed and contextualised the various functions of the building. “When we got invited by Archiware to do this project for their 10th anniversary we thought: Cool!! We really like their work, let’s make something cool out of it. But hang on a minute… we have actually no idea how they do what they do. Far from being computer nerds (ehmm), all this virtual 3-D design sounds pretty much ‘magic’ to us. So back to the roots: scissors in hand (at least we know how they work), a sheet of plastic, iron machine and ventilators.
